PCBWorld is an open-source, engine-grounded PCB routing environment built on KiCad. Agents perform native routing operations and use Design Rule Check feedback, supporting both reinforcement learning and tool-using LLMs. PCBWorld-Bench contains two controllable synthetic generators and 679 real open-source boards in native .kicad_pcb format. Completed boards are evaluated with eight engine-checked metrics independent of the routing method. The abstract reports that interactive agents outperform grid-action RL policies and open-loop LLM baselines, while an RL policy trained only on synthetic boards transfers zero-shot to real boards and approaches rule-based routers.
