According to Ars Technica, Apple sued OpenAI and related former employees after discovering a “rare” bug that allegedly allowed an engineer who joined OpenAI to retain access to confidential Apple server data for weeks after termination. Apple claims the incident involved communications between current employee Yu-Ting “Alyssa” Peng and former engineer Chang Liu, who had worked on sensitive product programs for eight years. Apple is seeking injunctions and substantial penalties, alleging an effort to obtain product-development information for OpenAI’s AI-device ambitions.
