Google has open-sourced Credentio, a lightweight C++ library built for local-first validation of C2PA Content Credentials. Instead of offloading media files to cloud services—incurring bandwidth costs, latency, and privacy tradeoffs—Credentio verifies manifests entirely on local devices with a minimal memory footprint, even across multi-gigabyte assets. The library currently handles manifest parsing and configurable trust lists, establishing an efficient native layer for provenance validation ahead of planned credential generation features.
