BYD says its Japan-exclusive electric K-Car, Racco, has received more than 700 orders since launching on July 28, while industry statistics recorded only 125 units during its first four days. BYD attributed the gap mainly to dealer-registered test-drive vehicles being counted as sales. The company is targeting regional markets, where K-Cars are widely used and home charging may be practical because of detached housing and declining fuel-station availability. BYD plans to expand its Japanese store network from about 80 locations to 100 by the end of 2026 and 120 by the end of 2027.
