Anthropic Says US Export Curbs Lifted as Claude Fable 5 Launches Globally

First seen · 7/2/2026, 12:44 AMLatest activity · 7/2/2026, 12:44 AM

According to Ars Technica’s report summary, the US has lifted export and in-country transfer licensing requirements for Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5, roughly three weeks after the Trump administration flagged the models as national security risks. Anthropic says Fable 5 is now available globally, while US organizations regained access to Mythos 5 on June 26. The company is also working with the government to expand Mythos access through its Glasswing program, which provides defensive cybersecurity researchers at trusted organizations with model access. The report attributes the policy change to a letter from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, but the underlying documents and technical evidence require verification.
