SimpleWikiSearch introduces a specified, runnable offline environment for evaluating agentic search over Wikipedia. It makes the corpus snapshot, cleaning and chunking pipeline, keyword and dense indexes, tool contract, observation format, and answer-submission protocol explicit. The environment exposes three tools: search, open_url, and submit_answer. The authors report baselines with open-source LLMs on six QA datasets and provide a random-300 subset for comparison with closed-source commercial models. The paper’s main contribution is a reproducible reference harness, not a new agent algorithm.
