SafeStep is an AI travel-assistance system for older people living with frailty or dementia. Its travel graph combines route planning with predictive modelling: LLMs and the Anticip8 behavioural prediction engine generate personalised failure scenarios for each journey stage, recommend interventions, and estimate how those interventions affect the probability of reaching the destination. The paper evaluates travel-graph generation and reports a field study covering 26 real-world journeys. The authors state that combining Anticip8 for failure prediction with GPT-based models for intervention evaluation produced the most reliable performance. Users reported greater confidence and perceived safety, while interface usability remained a concern.
