DeepMind's AlphaGenome Atlas Maps All 9 Billion Possible DNA Changes in the Human Genome

Google DeepMind has introduced the AlphaGenome Atlas, predicting the functional consequences of roughly nine billion single-nucleotide variants across the entire human genome. Generating a dataset spanning one petabyte—over 30 times larger than the AlphaFold database—the project moves computational genetics far beyond protein-coding regions into the vast non-coding genome. In early clinical exploration, the atlas has already helped researchers identify a previously overlooked genetic variant responsible for a rare case of epilepsy, offering an expansive lookup table for human genetic variation.
