GuidedRAG: Semantic Steering of Retrieval-Augmented Generation

First seen · 7/10/2026, 09:14 PMLatest activity · 7/10/2026, 09:14 PM

GuidedRAG adds a dedicated selection stage before retrieval and uses semantic steering to constrain the knowledge base around the user’s intent. According to the paper’s abstract, the approach improves retrieval relevance by 14.0–15.8%, mitigates a 19.7–27.4% loss in retrieval precision, and reduces retrieval overhead by orders of magnitude. Relevant chunks also appear earlier in rankings, while intent alignment improves by 31.8–36.8%. The authors report full coverage across 15 diverse RAG variants, suggesting that semantic steering may generalize across different retrieval-augmented generation designs.
