This paper audits 40 empirical generative-AI records published between 18 July 2025 and 17 July 2026. The newest named model had a median age of 281 days at publication, rising to 395 days for journal articles and falling to 56 days for preprints. Thirty-five records involved a superseded model family, while only seven supplied a precise dated identifier. The authors distinguish model age from the currency of a research claim and propose six reporting practices. A second section documents a two-day, frontier-model-assisted production process using GPT-5.6 Sol Pro for discovery, reconciliation, calculations, drafting, and critique. The authors explicitly present this as a proof of practice, not a controlled productivity or quality evaluation.
