According to an IT之家 report, OpenAI has introduced Agent Plugins 1.0.0, an open, vendor-neutral packaging specification for reusable AI-agent components. The proposed structure requires a plugin.json manifest and can include Agent Skills under skills/, MCP server definitions in mcp.json, and client-specific directories. MCP transports reportedly include stdio, Streamable HTTP, and legacy HTTP+SSE. The standard targets portable discovery and loading across compatible clients, while leaving distribution, installation, permissions, user experience, and proprietary client capabilities under each client’s control.
