This article examines how AI scholarship defines valuable knowledge. Using digital humanities methods, it maps epistemic virtues such as “true,” “accurate,” and “creative” across a corpus of 553 journal articles on AI published in 2024, with particular attention to creativity. The essay argues that evaluating AI-generated knowledge may require a framework less dependent on standards shaped by pre-AI knowledge workers and institutions, while remaining open to future-oriented values such as generativity. It is accepted for a 2027 special issue of Modern Fiction Studies and includes an online digital kit for exploring corpus data models.
