Arm Unveils CSS for Mobile 2, Repositioning Mobile CPUs for On-Device Agent Orchestration

At its Arm Everywhere China event, Arm introduced the CSS for Mobile 2 platform, tailoring mobile system IP for on-device agentic AI workloads. Built around the C2 CPU cluster with dual SME2 engines and Mali G2-Ultra NX graphics, the subsystem delivers up to 1.7x higher AI model throughput and cuts speech-to-text latency by 40% on models like Moonshine. Arm treats the CPU less as a standalone compute pool and more as an orchestration hub, freeing handset silicon makers to focus engineering resources on bespoke accelerators and interconnects.
