VISA is a structured, symbol-based protocol for describing agent-based simulation models through eight linked tables: four at the agent level and four at the model level. It also defines 19 executable consistency rules and three LLM-executable skills for authoring, checking, code generation, and reproduction. The authors evaluate it on three independently developed ABMs across different platforms. Two NetLogo models are reproduced in Python from their VISA specifications, while an industrial AnyLogic model passes all 19 rules but remains only partially reproducible because of a proprietary movement library and unavailable data.
