Omdia’s latest smartphone display market report says rising memory prices and reduced smartphone production plans are redirecting excess panel capacity toward the refurbishment market. New-phone display panel demand is forecast to fall 12% in 2026. In Q1 2026, shipments of panels for refurbished smartphones rose 20% year over year to 298 million units, exceeding the 289 million panels purchased for new phones for the first time. OLED’s share of refurbished-phone display shipments increased from 2% to 7%, indicating that higher-quality replacement screens are becoming more available.
