Microsoft introduces Aurora 1.5, a major extension of its Aurora Earth-system foundation model. The update adds 22 weather variables relevant to energy, agriculture, transportation, and climate risk, while introducing hourly temporal resolution and probabilistic ensemble forecasting. Microsoft says the model is open source on GitHub, with checkpoints available on Hugging Face, allowing researchers and developers to evaluate and extend it. The release also connects the open model to Microsoft Weather services, where additional data, infrastructure, managed access, and operational support can be provided for practical weather and Earth-system applications.
No heat snapshots are available in the last 24 hours.
