Color Pass-Through proposes an end-to-end framework for reproducing scene colors on a smartphone display. Instead of independently calibrating the camera and display and connecting them with low-dimensional color transforms, it optimizes the complete capture-to-display path as a coupled system. The paper evaluates the approach with both digital and human observers. Compared with representative baselines, the authors report an average improvement of 2.0 points on a 5-point user study and more than a 2x improvement on quantitative metrics. The framework also supports one-step calibration for each distinct observer.
